Anyone who knows me, knows I’m a huge fan of the JailBreak for the iOS.

Tonight I’m going to say goodbye to “myPhone” and go back to an “iPhone”.  I have said from the get go of iOS 5 being released, I would not upgrade until a proper untethered JailBreak was available.   Below are a couple screen shots so you can see the customizations I’ve done.  That’s why I call it “myPhone”.

So what has changed for me – especially in the past 24 hours?

Well, first I upgraded my wife’s iPad to the new iOS and was quite intrigued.  I saw a few functions and features that really appealed to me – a couple that I use as JB utilities.  She wanted her iPhone upgraded as well, so I took the JB off that device and upgraded it as well.

Since she was sleeping, I had an opportunity to play with it and realized that it’s actually pretty cool.  I really like the iCloud feature, dashboard, iMessage…

While I was at it, I went to the DarkSide and modified a few of her Auto-Correct functions.  For example, if she types my name (it’s Dan btw), it will automatically say “best husband ever” instead.   I put a couple in there as well for shits and giggles.

The last thing holding me back are fonts.  I’m a total font snob.  Love to have different fonts on my device  - one for just the “I like it factor”, the other – it prevents the average Joe Blow standing behind me in a line up reading my messages as I’m doing things.  I really despise that.

Ugh…so here I am almost talking myself back to just leaving it alone…just because of these dang fonts.

What to do…what to do…what to dooooo…. grrrrrrr…

From what I understand the core group of developers who do the JailBreak have been struggling for some time to crack the untethered JB.  In fact, some time ago I read they will be unable to get the untethered JB back at all.

I have faith…I think.

I’m going forward here.  Tomorrow I may be really upset with this choice.  Then I’ll be at the mercy of DevTeam to crack it.   Here we go….

Wish me luck….
