So the thought of cooking a Turducken has intrigued me for some time now. For those who do not know what this is - check out "The Original Turducken" and learn.
Basically, a 5KG ball of meat extravaganza! How could one not want something like this??? I call this an "adventure" as it seemed to be an adventure from the time I told my wife (and she was totally against the idea) to the time she tried it and actually liked it.
Certainly not the least expensive meal I’ve done on Easter - cost was $100ish. We had 10 people over at our house for dinner - this was plenty...of people and food.
I cooked this thing on my outdoor smoker for 7 hours at 215F then had to move it inside as I needed my oven and a consistent 375F to finished it.
Quite impressed. Nice to have - nice change from the typical home style turkey dinner’s I do.
Will I do it again? Yes.
All the time? Definitely not.
I much prefer my stuffing than what comes in the Turducken - and the general consensus of my guests was the same there.
However, my son suggested the next time we wrap it in Bacon...and call it the Turpiglet. I do agree a bacon wrapped turducken would be amazing.
Hope you all enjoyed your Easter!
