August 2012 Calgary Real Estate Board Statistics

August was a solid month for the Calgary Real Estate market.  Increased sales, lower new listings, average price increase and a lower average days on market.  Dont' be alarmed, that sounds like a shift in our market conditions.  I don't think so at this point.  Will have to keep a close eye on the changes over September and October.  See how we finish off the last quarter of...

Yes, statistically there are busier times in our market.  The spring is one of them.  With that said, this is just based on sales.  The more listings...

October 2011 Calgary Real Estate Board (CREB) Statistics

My apologies for the delay pushing the statistics out, due to a back end issue, I have been unable to publish to my blog.

October showed an increase in market activity by 10% over this same time period in 2010 giving us the ability to feel more secure in our market conditions in comparison, however aside from median condo prices, the market is down from last month.

Inner city, more established communities...

September 2011 Calgary Real Estate Board Statistics

September shows a 7% increase in sales over the same period in 2010 giving us a slight jump in numbers, however does this reflect in overall pricing increases?  No.
I have seen some communities slip backwards in pricing however this may simply be – the homes selling are the ones priced right.  That is ultimately a reality.

October will more than likely mirror September’s home sales so...

Variable Rate v. Fixed Rate. What to pick? Well stat junkies, here are your statistics.

This is an interesting chart showing you a 10 year history of different kinds of mortgages available to consumers, providing you a visual on what option is better suited to you and your lifestyle.

You will see in the 10 year history, a variable rate is the better option for you, the consumer.  If you look back at a 25 year history, you will see a similar trend.  Aside from a few small blips,...

79% Support Secondary Suites in Calgary yet Council Opposes.

Proposal of Secondary Suites in Calgary has drawn up a heated debate in our city hall, but has it in the public?

Relaxing the rules on secondary suites was being discussed by our Mayor Nenshi and Aldermen once again this past Monday.  Nothing has come of the discussions aside from a couple Aldermen making statements like “unconstitutional” to allow suites everywhere by Ald. Richard Pootmans....
